Headshot Smoke from A Ramp

CS2 Vertigo Headshot smoke from A Ramp. Blocks the dangerous Headshot angle so Ts can push A site without getting picked from the elevated position.

Steps

  1. From A Ramp, walk to the right-side wall and find the small metal bracket mounted on the wall near the ramp’s midpoint. Stand so your right shoulder is pressed against the wall directly below the bracket.
  2. Look up and to the left toward the elevated structures. Find the steel beam that extends horizontally from the building above the Headshot position.
  3. Place your crosshair on the left end of the steel beam - right where the beam terminates and the sky begins on the left side.
  4. Use your jump throw bind (hold left click, then press your jump throw key). The elevated trajectory from the jump throw is needed to lob the smoke up to the Headshot level.
  5. The smoke arcs upward and lands at Headshot, completely blocking the elevated angle that CTs use to hold A Ramp from above. Your team can now push up the ramp without being picked from this deadly position.

Tips

  • Headshot is one of the most punishing positions on Vertigo because the CT has a height advantage and only exposes their head, making them extremely difficult to trade. This smoke eliminates that threat entirely.
  • Always pair this with the CT A smoke for a complete A execute. Smoking Headshot alone still leaves you exposed to the CT A angle, and vice versa.
  • If the smoke lands too low (on the wall below Headshot rather than at the position), your crosshair was too low on the beam. Aim at the very end of the beam, not the middle.
  • If the smoke overshoots and goes past Headshot, you were aimed too high. Lower your crosshair slightly toward the center of the beam.
  • Practice this lineup offline with sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 to confirm the smoke covers the Headshot angle completely.
  • The vertical nature of Vertigo means even small crosshair adjustments have big effects on where the smoke lands. Be precise with your aim placement.

When to Use

This smoke is critical for safe A site entries on Vertigo. Use it for:

  • Full A executes where your team pushes through A Ramp and needs the Headshot angle completely blocked before exposing themselves on site
  • Anti-AWP plays when an AWPer is holding Headshot and your team cannot afford to dry-peek the angle with rifles
  • Coordinated A takes where one player smokes Headshot while another smokes CT A, creating a safe corridor onto the site
  • Default round aggression where smoking Headshot lets your team take A Ramp control and pressure the site without risking a pick from above
  • Force-buy rounds where your team commits to A and needs both key angles smoked to have a chance against the CT rifles
