CT A Smoke from A Ramp

CS2 Vertigo CT A smoke from A Ramp. Blocks CT defenders so your team can push onto A site safely during executes.

Steps

  1. From A Ramp, walk up toward the site entrance and find the metal railing on the left side. Stand in the corner where the railing meets the concrete support column, pressing your left shoulder flush against the column.
  2. Look up toward the building structures above A site. Find the ventilation duct that runs along the top of the far building, protruding from the wall on the right side.
  3. Place your crosshair on the bottom edge of the ventilation duct - right where the metal duct casing meets the concrete wall beneath it.
  4. Use your jump throw bind (hold left click, then press your jump throw key). The jump throw arc is required to clear the site structures and land the smoke at CT A.
  5. The smoke sails over the site and blooms at the CT A entrance, completely blocking CTs from holding angles or rotating into A site from the CT side.

Tips

  • This is the single most important T-side smoke on Vertigo A site. Without it, CTs can freely hold the CT A angle and pick off your team as they push up the ramp onto the site.
  • Pair this with the Headshot smoke from the same position for a double-smoke execute that isolates A site from both CT angles. Throw both smokes and then push as a team.
  • If the smoke lands too far right (past the CT A doorway), your crosshair was too far right on the duct. Shift your aim left along the bottom edge of the duct.
  • If it falls short and lands on the A site floor, make sure you are fully pressed into the column corner. Positioning is critical for the correct trajectory.
  • Practice this lineup offline with sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 to see the arc and confirm the landing spot.
  • On Vertigo, vertical elevation changes can affect smokes differently than on flat maps. Always verify this lineup after CS2 updates in case geometry changes alter the trajectory.

When to Use

This smoke is essential for T-side A executes on Vertigo. Use it for:

  • Full A executes where your team pushes through A Ramp and needs CT A blocked before committing to the site
  • A Ramp rushes on eco or force-buy rounds where you need to neutralize the CT A angle before your team reaches the open site area
  • Split A attacks where players come from multiple angles and CT A smoke prevents defenders from collapsing on the Ramp entry
  • Post-plant setups where re-smoking CT A forces retaking CTs to push through the smoke or take a long rotation through mid
  • Default rounds where smoking CT A lets your lurker take A Ramp control safely and gather information without getting picked
