B Stairs Smoke from B Lobby

Steps

1. From B lobby, move toward the entrance to B stairs and stop before the staircase begins descending. Position yourself against the right wall, pressing into the corner where the wall meets the top of the stairwell.
2. Look down the staircase toward B site below. Find the railing or wall edge on the left side of the stairs, about halfway down where the staircase makes a turn.
3. Place your crosshair on the top of the railing/wall edge at the turn point - right where the metal railing meets the concrete wall. You want to be aimed at the structural element, not the open space.
4. Use your jump throw bind (hold left click, then press your jump throw key).
5. The smoke bounces off the stairwell walls and blooms at the B stairs landing, creating a smoke wall that blocks any CT holding the bottom of the stairs from seeing your team descend.

Tips

• B site on Vertigo is unique because you approach from above via a staircase - this gives CTs a strong angle shooting upward at your legs and feet. This smoke blocks that sightline and lets your team descend safely.
• This lineup requires a jump throw bind for consistent placement. The smoke needs to bounce correctly off the stairwell geometry to bloom in the right spot.
• Throw this smoke just before your team starts descending the stairs. The stairwell is narrow and your team will be bunched up - do not let the smoke fade before everyone is through.
• If the smoke blooms too high (at the top of the stairs near you), your crosshair was aimed too low. If it falls all the way to the bottom of the site, you were too high.
• Push through the smoke together with your team. The staircase is a kill zone if you trickle through one at a time - CTs will spam through the smoke and pick off isolated players.
• Pair this with flashbangs thrown down the stairwell to blind any CT waiting at the bottom.

When to Use

Use this smoke when your team is pushing B site:

• B executes - smoke the stairs, flash down, and push onto the lower level as a team
• B rushes where your team commits fast to B and needs to get down the staircase without getting picked
• Late-round B hits when time is running out and your team needs a quick entry
• Default rounds where a player wants to peek down B stairs for information without fully committing
• Eco/force rounds where your team rushes B and needs to safely navigate the staircase against CTs with better weapons
