Steps
- From A Ramp, walk up toward the site entrance and stop at the left wall. Find the metal panel bolted to the wall about two-thirds of the way up the ramp. Stand with your left shoulder pressed against the wall right next to the panel’s bottom edge.
- Look up and to the right toward the structures above A site. Find the scaffolding framework - the grid of metal poles and platforms that creates the Scaffolding position on the upper level.
- Place your crosshair on the top-left corner of the scaffolding platform - right where the horizontal platform edge meets the vertical support pole on the left side.
- Use your jump throw bind (hold left click, then press your jump throw key). The jump throw arc is needed to lob the molotov upward and onto the elevated Scaffolding position.
- The molotov arcs upward and shatters on the Scaffolding platform, spreading fire across the elevated position and forcing any CT playing there to drop down or reposition, giving up their height advantage.
Tips
- Scaffolding is one of the most powerful CT positions on Vertigo A site because the elevated angle is extremely difficult to contest from below. This molotov forces the player to abandon the position entirely.
- Throw this about 3 seconds before your team pushes up A Ramp. The CT will need time to reposition after being flushed from Scaffolding, which creates a window for your entry fraggers.
- If the molotov hits the wall below Scaffolding and shatters on the ground, your crosshair was too low. Raise your aim to the very top of the scaffolding platform corner.
- If it overshoots past the platform, your crosshair was too high. Lower your aim slightly to keep the molotov landing on the platform surface.
- Practice this lineup offline with
sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60to see if the fire covers the full platform. - This molotov works best as part of a coordinated utility sequence: smoke CT A, smoke Headshot, molotov Scaffolding, flash site, then push as a team.
When to Use
This molotov is a key part of T-side A executes on Vertigo. Use it for:
- Full A executes where you need to clear Scaffolding before your team pushes up A Ramp and onto the site
- Anti-stack plays where you suspect the CT is playing the Scaffolding position and want to force them off before engaging
- A Ramp pressure in default rounds where flushing the Scaffolding player lets your team safely take ramp control
- Post-plant support where re-molotoving Scaffolding prevents the CT from re-establishing the elevated angle during retakes
- Late-round A takes where you cannot afford to trade kills with a Scaffolding player and need the molotov to do the clearing work
