Steps
- From CT A, position yourself behind the concrete barrier that provides cover from A Ramp. Stand on the right side of the barrier, pressing your right shoulder against its edge so you have a clear sightline toward the top of A Ramp.
- Look toward the A Ramp entrance. Find the floor transition line where the site flooring meets the ramp surface at the top of A Ramp.
- Place your crosshair just above the transition line - about one-third of the way up the visible ramp surface from the floor.
- Perform a standing left-click throw - no jump or movement needed. Simply aim and release the molotov.
- The molotov shatters at the top of A Ramp, spreading fire across the entry point and down the first few meters of the ramp. Any T pushing up is forced to either wait for the fire to die or take significant damage pushing through.
Tips
- This is the single most effective defensive molotov for A site on Vertigo. The narrow ramp entrance means the fire covers the entire width of the push path, making it impossible for Ts to avoid.
- Throw this reactively when you hear multiple footsteps coming up A Ramp. The fire lasts about 7 seconds, which is enough time for your teammates to begin rotating toward A.
- If the fire lands too far down the ramp (not at the top), raise your crosshair slightly to shorten the throw distance. The molotov should break right at the site-level entry point.
- If the fire lands on the flat site floor instead of the ramp, lower your crosshair to push the molotov further onto the ramp surface.

Smoke first, then when the smoke starts fading, molotov the same spot - this gives you nearly 25 seconds of denial.
When to Use
This molotov is a key defensive tool for the A site anchor on Vertigo. Use it for:
- Early-round defense when you hear Ts rushing up A Ramp and want to punish the grouped push with fire damage
- Buying time for rotations when you need 7 more seconds for your B or mid player to arrive and help hold A
- Denying A Ramp control in default rounds where Ts try to slowly push up and establish presence near the site
- Anti-rush defense on eco rounds where Ts might charge up the ramp with pistols and the fire forces them to slow down
- Stacking A defense when your team reads an A execute and wants to layer utility to make the push as costly as possible
