Steps
- From A Ramp, walk up toward the site entrance and stop at the right wall. Find the spot where a vertical seam runs down the concrete wall, and stand with your right shoulder pressed against the wall right next to the seam.
- Look up and to the left toward the A site structures. Find the elevator housing - the metal-framed structure that sits above the Elevator position on the far side of the site.
- Place your crosshair on the bottom-right corner of the elevator housing - right where the metal frame meets the floor plate of the elevator structure.
- Perform a standing left-click throw - no jump or movement needed. Aim carefully and release the HE grenade.
- The grenade arcs over the ramp edge and bounces into the Elevator position, detonating near any CT playing there. The blast deals up to 60-80 HP damage depending on the defender’s exact location within the Elevator area.
Tips
- Elevator is a popular CT position on Vertigo A site because it offers quick rotation access and a strong angle onto the ramp. Dealing 60-80 damage before pushing can turn the subsequent gunfight heavily in your favor.
- Throw this HE about 2 seconds before your team pushes up the ramp. The detonation either damages the CT or forces them to reposition, both of which benefit your entry.
- If the grenade lands too short (on the site floor between you and Elevator), your crosshair was too low. Raise your aim higher on the elevator housing to increase the throw arc.
- If the grenade overshoots past Elevator, lower your crosshair - the throw had too much elevation.

Two HEs on Elevator can leave the CT at critical health, making even a body shot lethal.
When to Use
This HE grenade softens the Elevator defender before T-side A pushes on Vertigo. Use it for:
- A execute preparation where you want to damage the Elevator player before your team crests the ramp onto the site
- Default round aggression where you HE Elevator and then push up the ramp for an advantaged fight against the damaged CT
- Force-buy rounds where utility damage compensates for your team’s weaker weapons
- Anti-AWP plays where the Elevator AWPer takes damage and is forced to reposition, removing them from the angle before your team peeks
- Information gathering where hit markers from the HE confirm a CT is playing Elevator, helping your team adjust their A execute strategy
