B Stairs HE Grenade from B CT

Steps

1. From B CT, walk toward B site and stop at the concrete pillar on the right side of the corridor. Stand with your right shoulder pressed against the pillar, facing toward the B Stairs entrance.
2. Look toward the B Stairs doorway. Find the metal doorframe that marks the staircase entry onto the site level.
3. Place your crosshair on the center of the doorframe - right at the midpoint of the upper horizontal bar where it spans across the opening.
4. Perform a standing left-click throw - no jump or movement needed. Simply aim and release the HE grenade.
5. The grenade travels to the B Stairs entrance and detonates right in the doorway, dealing up to 60-80 HP damage to any Ts grouped at the top of the staircase preparing to push onto the site.

Tips

• The B Stairs doorway is extremely narrow, which means the HE blast has nowhere to dissipate. Ts packed in the staircase take maximum damage because they cannot spread out to reduce splash.
• This HE is most effective when thrown reactively after hearing footsteps on the stairs. Ts typically group up at the top landing before pushing through the doorway, which is the perfect moment for this grenade.
• If the grenade detonates too far inside the staircase (below the site level), your crosshair was aimed too high above the doorframe. Lower your aim to the center of the frame.
• If it detonates on the site floor (too close to you), raise your crosshair to push the grenade further toward the doorway.
• Practice this lineup offline with sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 to see the exact blast radius in the staircase.
• Pair this with the B Stairs smoke and B Stairs molotov for a layered defense. Smoke the stairs first, HE into the smoke to damage anyone waiting behind it, then molotov when the smoke fades.

This HE grenade is a key defensive tool for B site on Vertigo. Use it for:

• Anti-rush defense when you hear a fast B push through the staircase and want to punish the grouped-up attackers with blast damage
• Utility stacking where you throw the HE into your B Stairs smoke to damage Ts hiding behind the smoke while they wait for it to fade
• Eco round defense where the damage from the HE can bring Ts below lethal thresholds for your pistols or SMGs
• Information plays where hit markers confirm T presence at B Stairs, allowing your team to rotate or stack the site accordingly
• Delaying pushes where the HE detonation causes Ts to hesitate for a few seconds, buying time for rotators to reinforce B site
