Steps
- From B Stairs, walk to the top of the staircase and stand on the left side of the landing. Press your left shoulder against the wall where it meets the floor at the top step.
- Look through the doorway toward B site. Find the B Ramp area on the far side - specifically the metal railing that runs along the edge of the elevated B Ramp platform.
- Place your crosshair on the center of the metal railing - right at the midpoint where the horizontal bar spans between two vertical posts.
- Perform a standing left-click throw - no jump or movement needed. Simply aim and release the HE grenade.
- The grenade travels through the doorway and bounces onto the B Ramp platform, detonating near any CT positioned there. The blast deals up to 60-80 HP damage and can splash onto multiple defenders if they are grouped near the railing.
Tips
- B Ramp is a common defensive position on Vertigo because the elevation advantage lets CTs hold strong angles over the B site entrance. Softening this player with an HE before your push makes the entry fight much easier.
- The standing throw keeps this lineup simple and fast. You can throw it reactively when you hear the CT repositioning on B Ramp, or proactively as part of your execute sequence.
- If the grenade detonates too far left (missing the B Ramp platform), your crosshair was too far left on the railing. Shift your aim right along the horizontal bar.
- If the grenade falls short (detonating on the B site floor instead of reaching the ramp), raise your crosshair to increase the throw arc.

That damage makes your pistol headshots much more likely to secure the kill.
When to Use
This HE grenade damages the B Ramp defender before T-side B pushes on Vertigo. Use it for:
- B execute preparation where you want to soften the B Ramp player before your team descends the staircase onto the site
- Default round aggression where you HE B Ramp and then push through B Stairs for a gunfight against a damaged defender
- Force-buy rounds where maximizing utility damage is critical since your team’s weapons cannot compete in a fair fight
- Anti-stack plays where you suspect multiple CTs are near B Ramp and the HE can damage two or more players simultaneously
- Information gathering where hit markers confirm the CT’s position on B Ramp and help your team plan the execute accordingly
