Connector Smoke from A Long
Block CT rotations through Connector on Overpass with this consistent jump-throw smoke from A Long. Essential for isolating A site executes.

Steps
- From A Long, walk toward the large green dumpster on the left side. Position yourself in the corner where the dumpster meets the wall, pressing your back firmly against the wall behind you.
- Look up and to the right. Find the metal vent duct that runs along the top of the building ahead. There is a visible seam where two sections of the duct connect.
- Place your crosshair directly on the bottom edge of the duct seam - right where the lower duct section begins. Your crosshair should sit on the metal, not above it in the sky.
- Use your jump throw bind (hold left click, then press your jump throw key). The timing is handled entirely by the bind, so do not attempt this manually.
- The smoke arcs over the rooftop and lands in the Connector doorway, creating a thick smoke wall that blocks all CT vision from Connector into A Long and the site entrance.
Tips
- This smoke is the backbone of any A site execute on Overpass. Without it, CTs rotating through Connector can freely pick off players pushing onto site.
- If the smoke lands too deep inside Connector (toward CT spawn), your crosshair was placed too high. Lower it slightly so it rests right on the duct seam, not above it.
- Pair this with the Toilets smoke from Playground to fully isolate A site. Both smokes together cut off the two main angles CTs use to defend the site.
- Practice offline with these commands:
sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 - The smoke takes about 3 seconds to bloom, so coordinate the throw timing with your teammates who are ready to push onto site.
- In CS2, this lineup works consistently regardless of tick rate thanks to the sub-tick system. Once you have the position and crosshair placement down, it lands perfectly every time.
When to Use
This smoke is critical for any T-side execute involving A site. Use it for:
- Full A executes where your team is pushing from A Long and needs Connector completely sealed off to prevent CT flanks
- A splits where players come from both A Long and Playground - the Connector smoke prevents CTs from collapsing on either group
- Late-round A takes when CTs have stacked Connector and you need to force them to push through smoke or rotate the long way around
- Default rounds where a lurker at A Long wants to cut off rotations while the rest of the team pressures B
- Post-plant setups where you want to deny CTs a fast retake angle through Connector while your team holds crossfires on site
