B Pillar Smoke from Monster

Smoke the B site pillar on Overpass from monster. Blocks the CT playing behind pillar so your team can exit monster and take B site.

Steps

  1. From monster, push up the tunnel until you reach the area just before the exit onto B site. Position yourself against the right wall of the monster tunnel, pressing into the corner where the wall narrows near the exit.
  2. Look up through the monster exit toward B site. Find the top of the pillar structure visible on the B site - it is the large concrete column that CTs commonly play behind.
  3. Place your crosshair on the left edge of the pillar, roughly two-thirds of the way up its height. You want to be on the pillar itself, aiming at the side facing you.
  4. Use your jump throw bind (hold left click, then press your jump throw key).
  5. The smoke pops out of the monster exit and blooms at the B site pillar, wrapping around the column and blocking any CT behind it from seeing players exiting monster or pushing from B short.

Tips

  • The B pillar is one of the strongest positions on B site because the CT has hard cover and can hold angles on both the monster exit and the short entrance. This smoke removes that dual angle and forces the CT to rotate.
  • This lineup requires a jump throw bind for consistency. The smoke needs to exit the low-ceiling monster tunnel at the right angle to reach the pillar.
  • Pair this with the heaven smoke for a proper B execute. Heaven blocks the elevated angle while the pillar smoke blocks the strongest ground-level position - together, they make the B site take much cleaner.
  • Throw this smoke right before your team exits monster. If you throw too early, it may fade while your team is still setting up.
  • If the smoke lands short (in front of the monster exit instead of at the pillar), your crosshair was too low. If it flies past the pillar toward the back of the site, you were too high.
  • Be aware that you are in the monster tunnel while lining this up. Make sure the tunnel is clear before looking up - a CT could push monster aggressively.

When to Use

Use this smoke when pushing B site from monster:

  • B executes from monster - smoke the pillar, flash out of the tunnel, and take the site with your team
  • Split B takes where one group goes through B short and another through monster - the pillar smoke covers the most dangerous angle for both entry paths
  • Late-round B hits when time is running out and you need to push through monster quickly
  • Post-plant setups where you plant behind the pillar smoke and hold the post-plant from monster or the site
