A Long Smoke from Truck

Defensive CT smoke that blocks A Long from Truck on Overpass. Delay T pushes and buy time for rotations with this easy standing throw.

Steps

  1. From your CT-side position near Truck on A site, walk to the front-right corner of the truck body. Stand right where the truck’s bumper meets the ground, facing toward A Long.
  2. Look down A Long toward the T-side approach. You can see the long corridor stretching out in front of you with walls on both sides.
  3. Place your crosshair at head height on the left wall of the corridor, roughly where the wall texture changes from light concrete to darker brickwork. This should be about halfway down the visible corridor.
  4. Perform a standing left-click throw - simply hold and release left click with no movement. The throw is straightforward from this distance.
  5. The smoke lands in the middle of the A Long corridor, creating a full smoke wall that blocks all T-side vision from the far end of Long into the site area.

Tips

  • This is one of the most important early-round CT smokes on Overpass. Throwing it in the first 10 seconds of the round buys your team time to set up crossfires and get information elsewhere.
  • If the smoke lands too close to you (not far enough down Long), your crosshair was too low. Raise it slightly on the wall to give the smoke more distance.
  • After throwing, reposition immediately. Do not stand at Truck staring at the smoke - smart Ts will push through the smoke and catch you off guard if you stay static.
  • Practice offline with these commands: sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60
  • Pair this with an A Long molotov from Truck for maximum stall. Throw the smoke first, then the molotov in front of it to punish any Ts trying to push through early.
  • This smoke buys roughly 18 seconds of blocked vision. Use that time to get information from B side or Connector and decide where the Ts are committing.

When to Use

This is a bread-and-butter defensive smoke for CT-side A anchors. Throw it when:

  • Early round as your default opening utility to delay the T push and give your team time to settle into positions
  • Retaking A site when Ts have taken control and you need to block their sightlines while your team repositions for the retake
  • Buying time for rotations when you hear a full A execute and need your B teammates to start rotating before the Ts can plant
  • 1vX clutch situations where you need to isolate angles and prevent Ts from overwhelming you with multiple peeks at once
