A Ramp Smoke from CT Spawn
CT-side Mirage A ramp smoke from CT Spawn. Blocks T pushes from ramp and slows A executes to buy time for defensive rotations.

Steps
- From CT Spawn, move toward the A site side. Stop at the base of the stairs that lead up from CT spawn toward the A bombsite. Stand on the right side of the stairs, with your right shoulder near the wall.
- Face toward A ramp. From this position, you can see the ramp entrance where Ts push from T ramp onto the A bombsite.
- Look up slightly and find the top of the ramp archway - the stone frame that borders the ramp entrance. Place your crosshair on the center of the upper arch, right at the peak of the curved top.
- Perform a simple left-click throw while standing still. No jump throw or movement is required.
- The smoke travels forward and blooms at the A ramp entrance, creating a wall of smoke that completely blocks T vision from ramp into the site. Any T pushing through the smoke enters the site blind.
Tips
- This smoke is your primary tool for slowing A executes. The moment you hear Ts taking ramp control or throwing utility at A, throw this smoke to delay their push and give your team time to rotate.
- After smoking ramp, reposition to an off-angle. Do not stand in the obvious spots because experienced Ts will pre-fire common positions as they push through the smoke. Move to an unexpected angle on the site.
- If the smoke lands too deep (sitting inside the ramp corridor instead of at the entrance), your crosshair was too high. Lower it to rest on the archway rather than above it. If it falls short on the A site side of ramp, aim higher.
- Pair this smoke with a jungle or connector flash to create a deadly trap. The smoke forces Ts to push through blind, and the flash catches them on the other side with no vision at all.
- Practice offline with these commands:
sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 - This is one of the easiest CT smokes on Mirage. The reference points are obvious and the throw is a basic standing toss, making it reliable even in high-pressure situations.
When to Use
The A ramp smoke is a fundamental CT-side defensive tool on Mirage. Use it for:
- Stopping A executes when you hear Ts grouping on ramp - the smoke delays the push for roughly 18 seconds, often long enough for your B players to rotate and help
- Solo A holds where you are the only player on the site and cannot afford to take fights against a full execute - smoke ramp and play passively until backup arrives
- Early-round defense to deny Ts early ramp control - throw the smoke at the start of the round to prevent aggressive ramp pushes
- Retake setups when Ts have taken ramp but not yet entered the site - the smoke gives your team time to regroup from CT spawn and plan the retake together
- Combo with palace molotov for full A lockdown - smoke the ramp and molotov palace to deny both entry points simultaneously, forcing Ts to wait or push through utility
