Top Mid Smoke from T Spawn
Block the CT AWP at top mid on Inferno with this easy smoke from T Spawn. Essential for every T-side round to deny mid control safely.
easy T-Side standing left click midtop-midessential
Steps
- From T Spawn, run forward along the left wall toward second mid. Stop at the small archway where the wall makes a slight inward corner - about 5 steps from spawn. Press yourself against the left wall.
- Look up toward the rooftops ahead and slightly to the right. Find the wooden beam that juts out from the building above you. There is a small gap between the beam and the roofline.
- Place your crosshair on the bottom-left corner of the gap between the wooden beam and the roof edge - right where the beam meets the wall surface.
- Perform a standing left-click throw - no movement, no jump. Simply hold left click and release.
- The smoke arcs over the building and lands at top mid, creating a smoke wall that blocks CT vision from the A short/top mid area into the T side of mid.
Tips
- This is the single most important smoke on Inferno. It should be thrown at the start of almost every T-side round to deny the CT AWPer a free pick into mid.
- The smoke blooms quickly (around 2 seconds) and lasts the standard 18 seconds. Throw it early so your team can move into second mid or alt mid safely.
- Since this is a standing throw, there is no need for a jump throw bind. This makes it one of the most beginner-friendly smokes in CS2.
- If the smoke lands too far forward (past top mid toward short), your crosshair was too high. If it falls short and lands in front of you, you were aimed too low or were not positioned far enough forward.
- Practice commands:
sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 - Pair this smoke with a banana smoke or banana molotov so your team can apply pressure on both sides of the map at round start.
When to Use
Throw this smoke at the start of virtually every T-side round. It is foundational for:
- Mid control - without it, the CT AWPer has a clear sightline through mid and can pick off anyone crossing
- A splits through second mid where your team wraps from mid into apartments or short
- Default rounds where players spread across the map and need mid to be safe
- B executes - even when hitting B, smoking top mid prevents CTs from pushing through mid for an early flank
- Aggressive alt mid plays where a player pushes through mid toward CT apartments
