Pit Smoke from A Short

CS2 Inferno pit smoke from A Short. Jump-throw lineup that blocks the pit AWPer so your team can push onto A site safely.

Steps

  1. Push through second mid and approach A short (also called short hall). Stop at the corner where the corridor opens toward the A site area, and stand against the left wall just before the final doorway.
  2. Look up at the building ahead. Find the small rectangular window on the upper floor of the building directly above the site. There is a distinct stone ledge below the window frame.
  3. Place your crosshair on the bottom-left corner of the window frame, right where the stone ledge meets the left edge of the window opening.
  4. Use your jump throw bind (hold left click, then press your jump throw key). Do not attempt to manually time this - the bind ensures consistent height every throw.
  5. The smoke arcs upward and drops into pit, filling the sunken area with smoke and completely blocking any CT holding that angle from seeing players enter A site.

Tips

  • Pit is one of the most dangerous CT positions on A site because it offers deep cover and a strong angle on players coming through apartments or short. Smoking it is essential for any A execute.
  • This smoke should be paired with the graveyard smoke and a library or arch flash for a full A site execute. Without graveyard smoked, CTs can still shoot from that angle.
  • If the smoke lands too shallow (on the ledge above pit rather than inside it), your crosshair was too high. Aim lower on the stone ledge below the window.
  • If the smoke drifts too far left and lands on the site floor instead of inside pit, you are standing too far right in the corridor. Hug the left wall more tightly.
  • The smoke takes about 2 seconds to travel, so call your execute timing accordingly so teammates pushing from apartments arrive just as it blooms.
  • Practice in an offline server with sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 to dial in the exact aim point.

When to Use

This smoke is a core part of any T-side A execute on Inferno. Throw it when:

  • Full A executes where your team pushes through apartments and short simultaneously to overwhelm the site
  • A short pushes with 2-3 players to isolate the pit player and take map control of the site
  • Late round A hits where you need to quickly shut down the pit angle before CTs can rotate from B
  • Post-plant situations where you re-smoke pit to deny the CT retake from that angle while your team holds the bomb
  • Fake-to-real setups where you initially pressure B, rotate through mid, and hit A with this execute smoke
