A Retake Flash from Pit

Steps

1. Drop into pit and move to the back-left corner (the deepest part of pit when facing toward A site). Press yourself against the left wall so you have a clean upward throw angle.
2. Look straight up toward the sky. Find the edge of the building roof directly above you on the left side. There is a distinct roofline where the building ends and sky begins.
3. Place your crosshair just above the roofline edge, roughly a centimeter into the open sky above the building. This sends the flash high enough to arc over and pop above A site.
4. Throw with a standing left click - no movement or jump needed from inside pit. The depth of pit gives the throw natural upward momentum.
5. The flash arcs high over the building and pops in the air above A site, blinding any Ts positioned on the site, near the bomb plant area, or watching the pit angle.

Tips

• Pit is one of the safest retake positions on A site because enemies rarely push into it. Throwing a flash from here lets you blind the site without exposing yourself.
• The flash pops from a high angle, making it extremely hard for Ts to turn away. Even players watching pit directly get caught by the overhead burst.
• If the flash pops behind you (inside pit), your crosshair was too far to the left and the flash hit the wall above. Shift your aim slightly to the right.
• If the flash goes too far and pops over apartments instead of the site, you were aimed too high. Lower your crosshair back down closer to the roofline.
• Pair this flash with teammates pushing from CT spawn or arch. Call “flashing A from pit” so they peek the moment it pops for maximum effectiveness.
• Practice in an offline server with sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 to time the flash pop with your peek.

When to Use

This flash is essential for CT retakes on A site from the pit position. Use it when:

• A site retakes where your team is pushing from multiple angles and needs the Ts on site blinded before they commit
• Post-plant scenarios where the bomb is down on A and you need to flash your way to the defuse from pit
• Solo retake attempts where you flash from pit and immediately peek to catch a blinded T off guard
• Coordinated double flashes where you throw one from pit and a teammate throws one from CT, overwhelming the Ts with consecutive flashes
• Late round clutch plays where you are the last CT alive and need every advantage to win the retake
