Steps
- From your defensive position at B site, move to the back of the site near the large box on the right side (when facing tunnels). Stand on the ground level, approximately one step to the left of the box corner.
- Face toward B tunnels/doors. You can see the wide double-door opening that leads from upper tunnels into the B bombsite.
- Look up slightly and find the top of the B doors frame. Place your crosshair on the center of the upper door frame - right in the middle of the horizontal beam that spans across the top of the opening.
- Perform a simple left-click throw while standing still. This is a basic standing throw with no movement or jump required.
- The smoke travels forward and blooms directly in the B doors opening, creating a thick smoke barrier that blocks all vision from upper tunnels into B site. Any T pushing through is completely blind as they enter.
Tips
- This is the most fundamental CT smoke on B site. Whenever you hear footsteps or utility in tunnels, throwing this smoke should be your immediate instinct. It turns any B rush into a gamble for the Ts.
- After throwing, position yourself at an off-angle - either behind the big box, on the back platform, or in the closet corner. Ts pushing through the smoke will pre-aim the common headshot positions, so holding an unexpected angle is key.
- If the smoke does not fill the full doorway (leaving a gap on one side), adjust your starting position slightly left or right. The centering needs to be precise for full coverage.
- Combine this with a molotov on upper tunnels thrown just before the smoke. The molotov forces Ts to wait, and by the time the fire dies, your smoke is already blooming in the doorway.
- Practice offline with these commands:
sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 - In higher-level games, coordinate with your B partner to throw utility together. One player smokes doors while the other throws a flash or molotov into tunnels for maximum delay.
When to Use
This smoke is your primary defensive tool for holding B site on CT side. Use it for:
- Stopping B rushes when you hear Ts flooding through tunnels - the smoke forces them to push through blind, giving you a massive advantage in the engagement
- Buying time for rotations when you are solo on B and need your teammates to arrive from A or mid before the Ts can overwhelm you
- Early-round defense to establish map control - throw the smoke at the start of the round so the Ts cannot freely peek into the site and gather information
- Post-plant defense after Ts have planted at B and you are retaking - smoking the doors prevents any T lurker from re-entering the site during the defuse
- Eco round holds where you have limited firepower and need to slow the pace down - the smoke gives you time to play for picks rather than being overwhelmed by superior numbers
