B Back Plat Smoke from Upper Tunnels
Smoke B back platform on Dust 2 from Upper Tunnels. Blocks the AWP angle and lets your team flood B site during executes.

Steps
- From Upper Tunnels, walk forward and stop just before the exit that opens up into B site. Position yourself against the right wall of the tunnel, roughly two steps back from the tunnel opening. Your right shoulder should be flush with the wall.
- Look up and to the right. You can see the ceiling beam that runs across the top of the tunnel opening, along with the rough stone wall above it.
- Find the corner where the tunnel ceiling meets the right wall of the exit. There is a visible seam in the stonework at this junction. Place your crosshair directly on that seam intersection - right where the horizontal beam meets the vertical wall edge.
- Use your jump throw bind (hold left click, then press your jump throw key). The bind handles the precise timing needed for this lineup to work.
- The smoke arcs up and over, landing squarely on B back platform (the elevated position behind the site where CTs commonly set up with rifles or AWPs). The smoke completely denies that angle and forces the defender to either push through the smoke or fall back to CT spawn.
Tips
- B back plat is one of the most dangerous positions to push into because the CT sitting there has a clear sightline across the entire site and into tunnels. This smoke removes that advantage entirely and makes B executes significantly safer.
- Combine this with a B doors smoke from another teammate to fully isolate the site. With back plat and doors both smoked, the only place a CT can hide is in close corners at the site boxes.
- If the smoke lands too far back (past the platform toward CT mid), your crosshair was too high. Lower it slightly on the seam. If it lands short and sits in the middle of B site, you were standing too far back in the tunnel.
- After throwing this smoke, immediately push out with your teammates. The smoke takes about 2 seconds to bloom, so time your entry so you arrive at the site just as the smoke finishes forming.
- Practice offline with these commands:
sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 - In higher-ranked games, CTs will sometimes push through this smoke aggressively. Have a teammate pre-aim the smoke edge as you enter the site to punish anyone who tries.
When to Use
The back plat smoke is essential for almost every B site take on Dust 2. Use it for:
- Full B executes where your team rushes through tunnels - smoking back plat removes the strongest CT angle and makes the entry much more survivable
- B splits where players come from both tunnels and mid window - the back plat smoke prevents the CT from getting easy kills on players entering from either direction
- Fast B rushes at the start of the round - throw this smoke immediately and push together as a team before CTs can rotate
- Eco round plays where your team forces B with limited utility - even a single smoke on back plat can be the difference between a successful entry and getting wiped by the AWPer
- Late-round bomb plants where you need to take B site quickly with the clock running down and cannot afford to waste time clearing back plat manually
