A Long Cross Smoke from Long Doors

Dust 2 long cross smoke from long doors. Covers the deadly A Long crossing so your team can push from long toward A site without getting picked.

Steps

  1. After pushing through Long Doors (clearing the close angle and any CT holding inside), move forward and hug the left wall as you exit onto A Long.
  2. Look ahead toward A site. You will see the edge of the wall at the far end of the long corridor where the open crossing begins - this is where the corner turns toward the A site.
  3. Place your crosshair at roughly head height on that wall edge. You want to aim at the corner of the wall itself, not above it or below it.
  4. Left click to throw the smoke. This is a simple standing throw - no jump needed.
  5. The smoke lands at the A Long crossing, creating a smoke wall that blocks vision from A site, car, and the CT AWP from seeing anyone moving through long.

Tips

  • Throw this immediately after clearing Long Doors. Every second you wait is a second the CT AWP at car or on the A site platform can pick you off. Speed matters.
  • Have a teammate throw an A Long flash over the doors at the same time. The flash blinds any CT peeking from pit or car, and the smoke covers the crossing a moment later.
  • The smoke lasts approximately 18 seconds. Coordinate your team’s push timing - do not throw it and then wait around. Push while it is active.
  • Because this is a standing throw, it is one of the most consistent smokes in the game. There is almost no way to miss it once you know the reference point.
  • If the smoke does not fully cover the crossing (you can still be seen from the right side), your crosshair was too far to the left. Adjust slightly right.
  • After throwing, you can immediately push through the smoke toward pit or hug the wall toward A site. Do not stand still at long doors.

When to Use

This is a fundamental Dust 2 smoke that every player must know. Use it on:

  • Any round where your team takes A Long control - it is not optional, it is required
  • A Long pushes to safely move your team from long doors to pit, car, or A site
  • A executes where the long team needs to cross and take position before the site hit
  • Eco/force-buy rounds through long - the smoke costs $300 and saves lives
  • Retakes from long on CT side as well, if you need to cross back toward site
