A Short Flash from CT Spawn

CT-side Dust 2 flash for A Short from CT Spawn. Blinds Ts pushing through catwalk and supports defensive holds or retakes on A site.

medium CT-Side standing left click midshortdefensive

Steps

  1. From CT Spawn, move toward the A site side and stop near the base of the ramp that leads up toward A site. Stand against the left wall with your shoulder touching the wall surface.
  2. Face toward A short/catwalk. From this position, you can see the elevated walkway and the short ramp that descends from catwalk onto A site.
  3. Look up and find the roofline of the building directly ahead of you. There is a chimney-like protrusion or raised section on the roof. Place your crosshair on the left edge of this raised section, right where it meets the roofline.
  4. Perform a left-click throw while standing still. The flash bounces off the building facade and arcs up and over toward short.
  5. The flashbang pops high above A short, blinding any Ts on catwalk or pushing down the short ramp. The pop height makes it difficult for players to dodge by turning, and it covers the entire short approach.

Tips

  • This flash is extremely versatile because you throw it from the safety of CT spawn. You never expose yourself to danger, making it a low-risk, high-reward piece of utility.
  • The flash pops 1-2 seconds after throwing, so coordinate with your A site anchor. Call out “flashing short” so your teammate knows to peek as the flash pops and catch Ts while they are blind.
  • If the flash pops too far to the left (over the A site boxes instead of short), adjust your crosshair slightly to the right on the roofline. If it pops behind catwalk (in mid), you were aiming too far left.
  • This flash works well in combination with an A short smoke. Throw the smoke first to block vision, then throw this flash. Ts who sit at the smoke edge waiting to push will be blinded, and any who push through the smoke are both blind and disoriented.
  • Practice offline with these commands: sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60
  • In retake situations, throw this flash before pushing up from CT toward A site. It clears the short angle for you, letting you focus on checking long-side positions as you enter the site.

When to Use

This flash supports both defensive holds and retakes on the A side of Dust 2. Use it for:

  • Defensive holds when you hear Ts pushing through catwalk - the flash blinds them before they reach the short ramp, giving your A anchor an easy engagement
  • A site retakes where you need to clear the short angle before pushing onto the site - throw this flash so you can safely move from CT to A without getting picked from short
  • Supporting your AWPer who is holding A site - the flash gives them a free shot on any blinded T pushing down from catwalk
  • Mid-round adjustments when Ts have taken mid control and you anticipate a short push - the flash delays their aggression and buys time for your team to stack A
  • Clutch situations where you need to enter A site from CT and cannot afford to dry-peek the short angle - the flash removes the risk from that side of the site
