Canal Smoke from Bridge

Steps

1. From Bridge, walk to the center of the bridge and position yourself against the right-side railing (facing toward Canal). Your hip should be against the stone railing.
2. Look toward the Canal passage below and ahead. Canal is the waterway area that Ts use to push from their side of the map toward mid and the site approaches.
3. Place your crosshair on the far wall of the Canal passage, at roughly head height. Find the dark water stain on the stone wall where the water level has left a visible mark, and aim at the top of that stain.
4. Perform a standing left-click throw - hold and release with no movement. The downward angle from Bridge toward Canal makes a standard throw effective.
5. The smoke drops into the Canal passage and blooms across the walkable area, completely blocking T-side vision through Canal and preventing them from using this route to contest mid control.

Tips

• Canal is the main T-side path to contest mid control on Anubis. Smoking it off gives CTs free mid dominance and forces Ts to push through the smoke or take longer routes through A Main or B Main.
• If the smoke lands in the water instead of on the walkway, your crosshair was aimed too low. Raise it to head height on the far wall to keep the smoke on the path where players actually walk.
• This smoke buys your mid player about 18 seconds of safe positioning. Use that time to take an aggressive mid angle, push for information, or rotate to support a site that is under pressure.
• Practice offline with these commands: sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60
• Pair this with an aggressive peek from Bridge after the smoke blooms. With Canal denied, Ts can only come through predictable angles that you can pre-aim from the Bridge.
• Be mindful of the smoke timing. If it fades before your team is ready, Ts can flood Canal and catch you off guard. Have a follow-up plan for when the smoke disappears.

When to Use

This smoke is a foundational CT utility for mid control on Anubis. Throw it when:

• Early round to establish mid dominance and deny Ts their fastest route to contest the center of the map
• Protecting rotations when your team needs to move players between sites through mid without being spotted by T-side Canal watchers
• Setting up aggressive plays where your mid player wants to push for picks without worrying about a Canal flank
• Delaying mid takes when Ts are pressuring mid and you need time for reinforcements from either site
• Default CT setups where mid control is a priority and the Canal smoke is part of your team’s opening utility package every round
