A Connector Smoke from Mid

Block the A Connector rotation on Anubis with this jump-throw smoke from Mid. Essential for isolating A site during T-side executes.

Steps

  1. From Mid, walk to the stone pillar on the left side of the mid area. Position yourself against the pillar so your left shoulder is touching it, facing toward the A Connector passage.
  2. Look up and to the right. Find the ornamental ledge on the building wall above the Connector entrance. There is a row of carved stone blocks running horizontally across the wall.
  3. Place your crosshair on the third stone block from the left, right on its bottom edge. The crosshair should sit at the seam where the carved block meets the smooth wall below it.
  4. Use your jump throw bind (hold left click, then press your jump throw key). The bind is critical for this lineup as the arc needs to be precise to clear the wall and land in the Connector passage.
  5. The smoke arcs over the wall and lands inside the A Connector passage, completely blocking CT vision from Connector into Mid and the A site approach. CTs can no longer rotate through Connector without pushing through the smoke blind.

Tips

  • A Connector is the primary CT rotation path between sites on Anubis. Smoking it off isolates the A site defenders and forces CTs to rotate the long way through CT spawn.
  • If the smoke lands too deep inside Connector (toward CT spawn), your crosshair was too high on the stone blocks. Drop it to the bottom edge of the third block to shorten the arc.
  • Pair this with the Palace smoke from A Main for a complete A site isolation. The two smokes together cut off both major CT angles watching the A site approach.
  • Practice offline with these commands: sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60
  • The smoke takes about 3 seconds to bloom. Coordinate the throw so it is active before your team pushes through A Main onto the site.
  • This smoke also works as a mid control tool. Even without a full A execute, smoking Connector lets your team safely take mid positions and gather information.

When to Use

This smoke is a cornerstone of T-side A strategies on Anubis. Throw it when:

  • Executing A site to prevent CTs from rotating through Connector and flanking your team as they push onto the site
  • A splits from Mid where players go through Connector toward A site - the smoke blocks CTs from contesting the push
  • Default rounds where your team wants mid control and needs Connector sealed off to prevent CT aggression from that angle
  • Faking A to sell a full execute to the CT side by deploying the same smokes you would use in a real A take
  • Late-round A takes when CTs have stacked rotations and you need to deny their fastest path to reinforce A site
