Steps

  1. At B Main, walk to the entrance that opens onto B site. Stand against the left side of the door frame, using the wall as cover from the site while you prepare the throw.
  2. Look into B site and locate the large pillar in the center of the site. This is the primary piece of hard cover that CTs use to hold B site from close range.
  3. Place your crosshair at the base of the pillar, on the side facing you. Aim right where the pillar meets the floor, at the center-left of the pillar’s visible face. This ensures the HE detonates at the feet of anyone hiding behind it.
  4. Perform a standing left-click throw - hold and release with no movement. The distance from the B Main entrance to the pillar is short, so a standard throw is accurate.
  5. The HE grenade bounces off the floor and detonates at the base of B Pillar, dealing 50-80 damage to any CT hiding behind the pillar. The blast radius catches players on both sides.

Tips

  • B Pillar is the go-to position for CTs defending B site at close range. This HE grenade can deal enough damage to make the Pillar CT a one-shot kill for your entry fragger during the push.
  • If the HE rolls past the pillar, your crosshair was too high. Keep it at floor level to ensure the grenade bounces close and detonates near the pillar base rather than sailing over.
  • Throw this at the same time a teammate throws the B Heaven smoke from B Lobby. While the smoke blocks Heaven, the HE weakens the Pillar CT - your team eliminates both threats simultaneously.
  • Practice offline with these commands: sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60
  • The explosion radius of HE grenades in CS2 damages through thin cover. Even if the CT is on the far side of the pillar, they still take significant splash damage.
  • Listen for the damage indicator. A confirmed hit means the CT is likely at 40-50 HP, which changes how your team should approach the site - you can play more aggressively knowing the defender is weakened.

When to Use

This HE is a high-value opener for T-side B site takes on Anubis. Throw it when:

  • Before a B execute to weaken the Pillar CT and turn the site take into a heavily favored fight for your team
  • Flushing out the CT who is playing close behind the pillar - the damage forces them to fall back to a weaker position or fight at low HP
  • Combining with other execute utility alongside smokes and molotovs for a full B site take that overwhelms the defense
  • Information plays to confirm whether a CT is holding the Pillar - a hit indicator reveals their position to your team
  • Eco round aggression where the HE damage compensates for your weaker weapons by ensuring the CT starts the gunfight at low HP
