Mid Pop Flash from Street

Blind CTs holding mid on Anubis with this pop flash from Street. Right-click run-throw for aggressive T-side mid control takes.

Steps

  1. From Street, walk toward the corridor that connects to the mid area. Position yourself against the right wall of the corridor, about three steps from where Street opens up into mid.
  2. Look toward the mid opening at roughly head height. Aim at the upper-left edge of the corridor exit, where the left wall meets the ceiling above the mid entrance.
  3. Place your crosshair on the wall-ceiling junction at the left side of the corridor exit. The flash will pop the moment it clears this edge, catching mid players by surprise.
  4. Start running forward toward mid and right-click throw (underhand) the flashbang when you are within two steps of the exit. The underhand toss and your forward momentum combine for an instant pop.
  5. The flash detonates at head height right at the mid entrance, blinding any CT holding positions on Bridge, in Canal, or at mid angles. Swing out aggressively and take the space.

Tips

  • Mid control is crucial on Anubis because it opens up routes to both A and B sites. This pop flash breaks through the CT mid hold and lets your team establish map presence.
  • The timing of the throw is critical. Release the right-click too early and the flash pops inside the corridor, blinding your team. Too late and the flash bounces past the CT and is ineffective.
  • Have teammates ready to push mid the instant the flash pops. The blind window is about 2 seconds, and you need players taking positions before CTs recover.
  • Practice offline with these commands: sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60
  • After the pop, clear the Bridge position first since it is the most common CT mid hold. Then check Canal and any close corners before calling mid control for your team.
  • This flash is especially effective in the first 15 seconds of the round when CTs are still settling into mid positions. An early flash catches them before they have set up properly.

When to Use

This pop flash opens up mid control for the T side on Anubis. Throw it when:

  • Taking mid control as the opening play of the round to establish map presence and force CTs off their mid positions
  • Mid-to-A splits where your team needs mid access to push through Connector toward A site
  • Mid-to-B rotations where your team takes mid control first and then rotates toward B through the mid pathways
  • Breaking a passive CT hold when CTs are playing a default mid setup with a player on Bridge and you need to flash them off their angle
  • Default rounds where your team wants information and map control without committing to a full site execute
