Mid Smoke from CT Spawn

CS2 Ancient mid smoke from CT Spawn. Early defensive smoke that blocks T mid pushes and protects CT rotations between sites.

easy CT-Side standing left click middefensiveessential

Steps

  1. From CT Spawn, walk toward the mid corridor and stop at the stone doorway on the left side. Press your left shoulder into the left edge of the doorframe so you are partially shielded from mid.
  2. Look straight down the mid corridor toward the T side. Find the wooden plank that is mounted horizontally across the upper portion of the corridor walls.
  3. Place your crosshair on the right end of the wooden plank - right where the plank meets the stone wall on the right side.
  4. Perform a standing left-click throw - no jump or run-up required. Simply aim and release.
  5. The smoke travels down the corridor and lands in mid, blocking the sightline from the T side and preventing early aggression through the middle of the map.

Tips

  • This is one of the first smokes you should throw each round on CT side. Getting mid smoked early prevents Ts from gaining free information about your setup or catching rotators in the open.
  • The standing throw makes this extremely fast to execute. You can throw it within the first few seconds of the round and still get to your defensive position in time.
  • If the smoke lands too close to you (not far enough into mid), your crosshair was too high. Lower it slightly below the plank to increase the throw distance.
  • After smoking mid, you have several options - you can push up to play aggressively behind the smoke, fall back to hold from CT, or rotate toward A or B.
  • Practice this lineup offline with sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 to nail the positioning.
  • This smoke lasts about 18 seconds, which covers the early-round timing window when Ts typically push for mid control.

When to Use

This smoke controls the most important part of the map on CT side. Use it for:

  • Opening defense on nearly every CT-side round to deny Ts free mid control and information
  • Safe rotations between A and B sites when you need to move through mid without being spotted or picked
  • Delaying mid splits where Ts try to push through mid to attack either site from the flank
  • Post-plant scenarios where smoking mid prevents Ts from holding cross-map angles during your retake
  • Anti-eco rounds where Ts might rush mid with pistols and your smoke forces them to wait or push blind
