A Main Smoke from T Spawn
Smoke off A main on Ancient from T Spawn to cross safely into mid. The essential opening smoke that blocks the long sightline into A main.
easy T-Side standing left click a-sitemainessential
Steps
- From T Spawn, run forward and take the left path toward A main. Stop at the corner where the corridor makes a sharp left turn - position yourself against the right wall, pressing your shoulder into the corner edge.
- Look down the A main corridor. You will see the long sightline that CTs hold from A site. Find the top of the archway at the far end of the corridor where it transitions into the A site area.
- Place your crosshair at the top edge of the archway, roughly at the center of the stone lintel. You want to be aimed at the very top of the opening, on the stone itself.
- Perform a standing left-click throw - no jump or movement required. Hold left click and release.
- The smoke travels down the corridor and blooms at the A main chokepoint, creating a wall of smoke that blocks any CT holding A main from the site side from seeing your team approach.
Tips
- A main on Ancient is one of the longest and most dangerous corridors in CS2. Without this smoke, the CT AWPer has a free sightline that makes any T approach suicidal. This smoke is essential for every round where your team wants A presence.
- The smoke is designed to block the deep angle - CTs who hold from the back of A site or near the pillar area. Your team can then push up to the smoke and use it as cover to peek or flash through.
- Since this is a standing throw, no jump throw bind is needed. This is a day-one smoke that every Ancient player should learn.
- If the smoke lands too far back (close to A site rather than at the chokepoint), your crosshair was too high. If it lands in the corridor in front of you, you were too low.
- Throw this smoke at the beginning of the round so it is in place before CTs finish setting up. The earlier you smoke, the earlier your team can gain A main control.

When to Use
Throw this smoke at the start of any round where your team wants to contest A:
- A executes - smoke the main sightline, then flash your team through the smoke onto the site
- A main control in default rounds - push up behind the smoke and hold the forward position for information
- Faking A - throw this smoke to suggest an A execute, then rotate to B while CTs stack A
- Eco/force rounds where your team rushes A and needs to close the distance safely
- Denying AWP holds - this smoke renders the A main AWP position completely useless
