Elbow Molotov from A Site
CS2 Ancient Elbow molotov from A Site. Denies T pushes through Elbow and forces them to wait or take damage pushing onto A site.

Steps
- From your A site defensive position, move to the stone pillar near the back of the site. Stand on the right side of the pillar facing toward Elbow, with your right shoulder touching the pillar edge.
- Look toward the Elbow entrance. Find the gap between the two stone walls that form the Elbow corridor as it opens toward A site.
- Place your crosshair on the upper edge of the left wall - right where the stone wall meets the skyline above the Elbow entrance.
- Perform a standing left-click throw - no jump or movement needed. Simply aim and release the molotov.
- The molotov arcs forward and shatters on the ground at Elbow, spreading fire across the entire passageway and denying any T from pushing through without taking significant damage.
Tips
- This is the most effective early-round defensive molotov for the A site anchor. Throwing it when you hear footsteps at Elbow forces Ts to either wait (wasting valuable round time) or push through fire and arrive at the site damaged.
- The fire covers the narrow Elbow passage almost completely, making it nearly impossible for Ts to avoid taking damage if they try to push through.
- If the molotov lands too deep inside Elbow (you cannot see the fire from your position), lower your crosshair slightly to shorten the throw.
- Pair this with the A Main smoke for maximum defensive coverage. Smoke A Main and molotov Elbow simultaneously to shut down both entry points into A site.
- Practice this lineup offline with
sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60to confirm the fire spread. - After throwing the molotov, immediately reposition to a different angle. Ts will often pre-fire your position once they hear the incendiary land.
When to Use
This molotov is a key defensive tool for A site anchors on Ancient. Use it for:
- Early-round defense when you hear footsteps approaching Elbow and want to delay the push while your team sets up
- Denying Elbow control during default rounds to prevent Ts from establishing a presence near A site for free
- Retake support where you molotov Elbow to prevent additional Ts from flooding onto site while your team retakes from CT
- Stacking A defense when your team reads an A execute and wants to layer utility to make the push as expensive as possible
- Anti-eco rounds where Ts might rush through Elbow with pistols and the fire forces them to slow down or take heavy damage
