Cave Molotov from Donut

CS2 Ancient Cave molotov from Donut. Clears Ts hiding in Cave during A retakes or denies Cave control during defensive setups.

medium CT-Side jump-throw left click a-sitecavedefensiveretake

Steps

  1. From Donut, walk to the curved stone wall on the right side. Position yourself in the corner where the curved wall meets the flat back wall, pressing your back into the junction of the two surfaces.
  2. Look up toward the ceiling structure above. Find the wooden beam that spans across the top of the Donut room, connecting the two walls above you.
  3. Place your crosshair on the left end of the wooden beam - right where the beam meets the stone wall on the left side. Aim at the very junction point.
  4. Use your jump throw bind (hold left click, then press your jump throw key). The jump throw arc is required to lob the molotov over the wall and into Cave.
  5. The molotov sails over the obstacle and lands inside Cave, spreading fire throughout the passage and forcing any T hiding there to either retreat or take damage.

Tips

  • Cave is one of the most common hiding spots for Ts during post-plant situations on A site. This molotov flushes them out without exposing you to a direct gunfight.
  • The jump throw makes this slightly harder to execute under pressure, so practice until the bind usage is second nature. Consistency is critical in retake situations.
  • If the molotov lands too short (hitting the wall instead of clearing it into Cave), make sure you are fully pressed into the corner. Being even slightly off changes the trajectory enough to miss.
  • If it overshoots and lands past Cave, your crosshair was too high on the beam. Lower your aim slightly toward the center of the beam rather than the junction point.
  • Practice this lineup offline with sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_grenade_trajectory 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_time 10; mp_roundtime_defuse 60 to dial in the positioning perfectly.
  • Call “Cave molly’d” to your team so they know that angle is clear and they can focus their crosshair placement on other positions during the retake.

When to Use

This molotov is a key retake tool for CT side on Ancient A site. Use it for:

  • A site retakes where you need to clear Cave before pushing onto the site, preventing a T from shooting you in the back
  • Post-plant scenarios where the bomb is planted for Cave and you need to force the T out of their cover position
  • Denying Cave control during early-round setups when Ts try to push through Cave aggressively for map control
  • Retake coordination where your team clears A site methodically - molotov Cave, flash site, then push together from CT and Donut
  • Late-round clutch plays where you cannot afford to peek Cave and need the molotov to do the work for you
